This program is designed to strengthen a child's highest form of communication
- handwriting. We will address the sensorimotor, visual perceptual,
fine motor, organizational, and postural coordination necessary for
success in handwriting.
There are 3 specialized areas:
Prewriting
Designed for preschool and kindergarten children, addressing the
developmental milestones necessary to begin letter formation. Motor
planning, eye hand coordination, spatial relations, grasps, posture,
shape formation, and initial letter formation will be addressed
during this time.
Printing
Designed for children K-4th grade, utilizing a kinesthetic method
of learning manuscript letters. Letter formation, letter spacing,
letter alignment and sizing will be addressed during this time,
while incorporating muscle strengthening, upper extremity coordination
and perceptual skills. Based on the principles of renowned handwriting
programs.
Cursive
Designed for children in at least the 3rd grade, utilizing a kinesthetic
method of learning cursive letters. Letter formation, spacing, and
letter and word alignment will be addressed along with the perceptual
skills necessary to foster successful handwriting.
